In-Person Summer Experience

We are delighted to announce that we will host an In-Person Program on June 26 to August 14, 2023. At this time we are able to host 5-6 students for the in-person program. Participants are expected to travel Monday thru Friday to and from the Johns Hopkins Hospital Campus (600 North Wolfe Street, Baltimore, MD 21287). Stipend support at $15/hour and funds toward travel costs will be provided.

The following applies to the In-Person Research-Education-Mentoring Program:

Officials, teachers, guidance counselors at Baltimore City Schools, and schools in the surrounding Baltimore metropolitan area in are encouraged to recommend 1 – 2 current juniors or seniors from backgrounds who are under-represented (UR) in health-related sciences on a national basis (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-15-053.html) with strong academic records and an interest in science and/or medicine. Two, and a maximum of three letters of recommendation are required for all applicants. One of the letters should be from a math or science teacher. Interested students from Baltimore City Schools, fitting the criteria as given above can also self-nominate.

Students are selected for the program after a series of steps that include application screening, interviews, and invitation to participate based on the availability of suitable mentors. All interns will undergo a health screening which includes review of vaccination status, criminal background check, and training in the protection of human subjects and the responsible conduct of research prior to beginning their internship and/or research projects.

IF YOU ARE ACCEPTED, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT EXTENDED ABSENCES DURING THE 8-WEEK PROGRAM ARE NOT PERMITTED. DO NOT APPLY KNOWING THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMMIT TO THE PROGRAM FULL-TIME.
